Hi Dana! I know keeping up with these messages is probably close to impossible. I want to share my story with you, though, and see what you think. I was diagnosed hypothyroid about 5 years ago. My TSH was about a 4.5, which I know some doctors don’t even consider to be hypothyroid, but my symptoms were severe. Both of my parents are hypothyroid. In fact, my mother just recently had to have surgery on her eyes to relieve pressure that was caused by her thyroid. My belief is that I’m highly sensitive to the lack of the hormone. I got pregnant earlier this year and miscarried at 9 weeks. My OBGYN checked my level at 8 weeks but didn’t communicate that my level was already a 3.2. When I went to the ER after I suspected miscarriage, I was at a 5.5. I’m now pregnant again. I’m trying to be me on top of my thyroid this time around. I got my level tested at 5 weeks and was a 2.1. I DEMANDED my medication be raised. My THYROID SPECIALIST would not change it. He said to wait until my next trimester for testing again because I looked normal for now and that my T7 is a better indicator anyway. My PRIMARY DOCTOR, however, validated my opinion that my med needed to be increased and I’m currently on a 30% increase in synthroid. I’m curious what your thoughts might be. I want to be the best advocate I can be for myself and my pregnancy. Thank you so much for your time!! I know you’re a busy mom!!
