My need for walking with a cane and using a grocery electric motor cart for grocery store shopping and my serious brain fog all disappeared when I stopped taking Levothyroxine plain and simple.

    1. When you stopped taking Levothyroxine did you notice any other symptoms? And if you weren’t taking any thyroid supplement how did your body produce enough thyroid? I want to stop but I’m scared my thyroid levels will dip even lower and I’ll get seriously ill.

I read this with a great deal of interest and went to Amazon specifically to purchase the Bio-Kult probiotic (the other one is way out of my price); however, I noticed in the description that it may contain soy, and as I understand it, soy is a definite no-no for anyone with hypothyroid or Hashimoto’s so I cannot use it. A disappointment, for sure.

  3. Does anyone on here use the Lucy Rose Clinic?

  4. I’ve done all of this for years. About 6 months ago I went gluten free. I have graves disease and within two weeks my blood levels came back normal but that could also be bc of the medications I’m on. Anyhow, I feel like shit everyday, I just wanna die and am waiting for death. I’ve been this way all of my life, was born with symptoms. It’ll never change, I’m fucked. Can’t work, can’t do a damn thing worth living for.. I’m so fucked.

    1. Mia, hang in there.
      You are not alone.
      Stay strong.

    2. Mia, find a medical doctor that practices functional medicine. It’s worth the money to have someone on your side, who you don’t have to convince to do certain tests, they’ll know what tests to do. It’s a battle. Make a list of functional doctors, call them, read about them, find out their cost, create a strict budget for a couple of months or find ways to make a few dollars if needed, and get help.
Mine is three hours away, but he is willing to do follow ups over internet or phone .

  5. Due to other issues I can’t do bone broth. I’m already gluten and dairy free. Sugar affects me in a few ways and I’ve suspected leaky gut. Can’t wait to start!

  6. Thanks for all the tips.
I’ve struggled with bad brain fog for over a decade now. I’ve tried medications for my hypothyroidism, exercise, eating healthy and supplements. I sadly forget what it was like to think clearly, and have had bouts of depression, anxiety and embarrassment trying to manage my day-to-day life without looking like a space cadet. I’ve pretty much come to terms and submitted to this thing, but my last ditch effort was to remove all gluten, sugar, dairy, legumes and grains from my diet. I eat mostly clean protein veggies and fats, while sipping on bone broth (lifting weights 3x a wk). I’m 1 weeks into this diet (no change yet), and feeling hopeful. Fingers crossed!

  7. For some reason doctors do not make it easy to think or admit that they wasted lots of time and money.

    Tax paying money included…..

    Just to be an ass!

  8. Where do you go ? For years I have had 19 out of 20 SYMPTOMS OF hypothyroid. I personally believe it is Hashimotos

    1. Bio Identical Hormones they really help with brain fog, anxiety, depression and fatigue. I couldn’t work with out them. If I had to choose between food and Bio identical hormones it would be Bio identical hormones. They also make a big difference for men also. I have seen it. Yes I have hypothyroidism. My Dr does thyroid panel once a year.. TSH WILL NOT TELL YOU THE TRUTH,MY DAUGHTERS TSH WAS FINE. I TOLD THEM TO DO A T3 AND T4. SHE WAS 1 POINT LOW ON T4,BUT TEXT BOOK SIGNS AND SYSTEMS, AFTER GETTING THE MEDICINE SHE STATE THIS IS WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO BE NORMAL. I WAS GETTING BIO IDENTICAL HORMONES and he found I had hypothyroidism. HCG DIET WORKS VERY WELL

  9. I had so much hope for this article and tips. I am a hypothyroid mom to 3 kids under the age of 6. Between fatigue and brain fog, I would need to win the lottery to hire a nanny in order to further accomplish these things. I’m lucky if I have time to shower in the morning, let alone dry brush first.

  10. blank Valerie Bonilla says:

I’ve quit my last two jobs due to brain fog! Now I’m starting another job and I’m terrified my lack of concentration, confusion and brain fog will make me appear stupid so they won’t hire me on full time. I’m terrified! I will try ANYTHING to get bacj to my normal self! Thank you for these tips!

    Foggy in Georgia

  11. Just diagnosed with Hashimotos. was wondering why I was dragging my butt in the morning, when I was so used to getting up at 4:30 to do my workout routine. Felt like I had run the marathon upon awakening. My work was starting to suffer for I couldn’t get there on time. My brain was in a fog, had trouble concentrating. It’s an awful feeling. I have been taking probiotics for a few years, so I know the benefits of them, but doctor put me on Synthroid because my level was so high. Hoping it works.

  12. blank Peggy Rubel says:

VERY helpful and user-friendly. I am new to this disease, gathering as much info as possible to mitigate reactions to meds, and find new vitality. Thanks!

  13. blank Dr Manny Barot says:

Wonderful insights and so well articulated

  14. Thanks for the info! I liked the “act of self love” perspective suggestion : )
