It&#039;s complicated, but basically, if you have an autoimmune problem, taking in excess iodine will be like throwing petrol on flames. 

Everyone needs a little iodine, but it has a narrow therapeutic window, that is, the difference between a helpful amount and a toxic amount, is small.
