It’s complicated, but basically, if you have an autoimmune problem, taking in excess iodine will be like throwing petrol on flames.

Everyone needs a little iodine, but it has a narrow therapeutic window, that is, the difference between a helpful amount and a toxic amount, is small.

Read the book “Iodine, Why You Need It and Why You Can’t Live Without It.” by David Bernstein. Iodine is a necessary nutrient regardless of a thyroid problem.
