I was diagnosed with thyroid function of a 90-year-old woman (finally🙏) 10 years ago after many years of suffering extreme fatigue, hair loss, repeated yeast infections for no apparent reason which became more & more frequent and harder to treat, put on Synthroid and titrated up to 200mcg daily. I gradually felt like my “old self” again & stayed on this dose for 6 years til a bone mass scan at age 45 came back positive for early onset of Osteoporosis & arthritis in my spine, hips & femurs. My endocrinologist immediately reduced my dose to 137mg, stating thyroid meds are harmful to our bones. Within 3 months, I gained 65 pounds, began experiencing brain fog, insomnia and for the first time in my life, had a fat stomach. My GYN also refused to continue prescribing my bio-identical hormones of Bi-est & progesterone (from plants) stating I was “too old” to take any form of estrogen by mouth & prescribed estradiol patches & oral progesterone. I am fat, tired, can’t remember things and due to multiple back surgeries & nerve damage to my sciatic nerve, have been unable to
exercise for the last 20 years. It’s gotta be my metabolism that slowed down, right? Any suggestions, thoughts, ideas are greatly appreciated!
