Susan, I'm sorry to read all you've been through. Find a good thyroid doctor to check that your treatment is optimal for you. Synthroid contains inactive T4 thyroid hormone and our bodies must convert that to active T3. In many cases, including mine, our bodies don't do that conversion well which is why I feel better on a combination of T4 and T3 thyroid meds. Here is information. Good to have you at Hypothyroid Mom. https://hypothyroidmom.com/which-is-the-best-thyroid-drug-for-hypothyroidism/

In reply to <a href="https://hypothyroidmom.com/the-thyroid-nose-and-sinuses/#comment-35686">Anne Barnes</a>.

GOODMORNING. SO GRATEFUL I FOUND YOUR ARTICLE THYROID, NOSE, SINUSES!
8 YEARS AGO MELANOMA STAGE 3C, LEFT BACK CALF... IMMUNITHERAPY CLINICAL TRIAL, OTTAWA, ONT. CANADA. DAMAGED MY THYROID, TONS OF DREADFUL SIDE EFFECTS... LYMPHEDEMA DUE TO HAVING ALL NODES IN GROIN AREA REMOVED AND NO AFTER CARE AS I WAS NO LONGER ABLE TO FINISH TREATMENTS, AFTER 6 MONTHS DUE TO BEING HOSPITALIZED 2 X FOR CHRONIC DIAHERRA. BACK HOME IN GANANOQUE, ONT. I ONLY HAD MY FAMILY DR. TO CONSULT WITH( WONDERFUL DR. BUT HAD NO EXPERIENCE IN IMMUNITHERAPY TREATMENTS NOR THYROID ISSUES.
I YEAR AGO, SO OVERWIEIGHT, SO SICK...I THROW OUT MY SYNTHROID, 2 PUFFERS, CHOLESTRAL PILLS, ANTI ANXIETY PILLS..AND STARTING EATING "CLEAN". NO PROCESSED FOODS WHAT SOEVER. LOST 44 LB. I STARTED TO LOOK & FEEL SOMEWHAT AS MY FORMER SELF. BUT NOW AFTER ONE YEAR, GOING SLOWLY BACKWARD, HAVE POCKETS OF FLUID ON EITHER SIDE OF NOSE, EYES, PUFFY FACE, HANDS, EXTREMELY LOW ENERGY, SINUS CONDITIONS, COUGHING UP TONS OF MUCUS.
I DEPARATELY NEED SOMEONE WHO CAN HELP GUIDE ME.
I PRAY YOU SEE MY MESSAGE AND COULD ARRANGE TO SPEAK WITH ME AND GUIDE ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION FOR HELP.💞

Yes, a large tongue that's scalloped on the edges due to the tongue pressing against the back of the teeth from the enlarged size is a common symptoms of low thyroid. The term for the enlarged tongue is Macroglossia as in the case of this woman here in this study that I'll link below. Good to have you at Hypothyroid Mom.
