Susan, I’m sorry to read all you’ve been through. Find a good thyroid doctor to check that your treatment is optimal for you. Synthroid contains inactive T4 thyroid hormone and our bodies must convert that to active T3. In many cases, including mine, our bodies don’t do that conversion well which is why I feel better on a combination of T4 and T3 thyroid meds. Here is information. Yes, a large tongue that’s scalloped on the edges due to the tongue pressing against the back of the teeth from the enlarged size is a common symptoms of low thyroid.
